Passing it on
As I was reading during my quiet time I came upon proverbs 22: 6. Train your children to live the right way,and when they are old, they will not stray from it.
I really love this verse. I sometimes feel like I want to pass my dreams onto my children, but in reality it really is not fair. They have their own dreams . It's hard for me to steer away from this direction and temptation . Being a good mom or effective mom does not mean creating someone who is exactly like you,but guiding your children to the direction they want to go. It means listening to their dreams and encouraging them to follow their own calling. This way they develope their own character, gifts and strengths. It gives them a chance to listen to God in their own lives.
I would feel so guilty if I guided them in the direction I wanted them to go in and have them live such an unfulfilled life and have many regrets.
I will guide them to follow their own agenda and expose them to different options and to encourage them and let them seek God's guidance and seek their own passions . Don't allow your dreams to be your child's dreams, let them be successful in making their own decision.
This was just on my heart and this verse just laid heavy on me. It is such a true reality for so many.
“Only I can change my life. No one can do it for me.”
