We said goodbye to Ryan's granny on Sat. She is heaven looking down on us and enjoying having a conversation with Jesus!
We are headed to Milan for the funeral and visitation. I have such fond memories of being on farm with the kids and just sitting and chatting with granny.
  She will be missed.

Oh sweet sweet Granny.

So Granny and grand dad have been together for 70 years. Can you imagine the hurt and the loneliness grand dad feels right now? My heart is aching for him.
Ryan played this song last night and I cried the whole time. Perfect for the funeral.
It is called "goodbye" by Alabama. Grab a tissue!

Honey Granola Bars

I made these bars the other day and they were really good and my kids loved them. It is really hard to find healthy bars or muffins that my kids will eat. I had my kids help me make them and even knowing what was in them they still ate them! I turned it into a school lesson as well.

Learning Concepts:
Shape reinforcemnt(for my toddler)
taste discrimination

Mommy Materials:
3 cups low fat granola
3/4 cup dried fruit or nuts( chocolate chips if you want to make it sweeter)
1/2 cup honey
1/4 cup vegetable oil
3/4 tsp. vanilla extrat
3 egg whites,lightly beaten.

You can replace the honey with Peanut butter or applesauce.

These were yummy!

Hope you enjoy them as much as we did!

31-day Experiment

I am doing the 31 Day Experiment by Dick Purnell.Growing  closer to God. I have felt myself getting farther away from God instead of closer.
The guest speaker at the tea I was serving at last Saturday mentioned this study and gave us key factors and verses to do that were from this book.
I love how it allows you to just think about a verse and how it applies to life and the moment your in.

He outlines a few things,
20 mins: READ...y the passage for the day, write down the following:
1: Main thought of the passage(Pray for insight)
2.Lessons you learned. How does the Scripture apply specifically to your life?(Pray for Wisdon)

5 mins: DEED..Let Christ lead you to plan one totally unselfish and loving act of kindness for this day. Pray that he will act through you to fulfill this plan in a vigourous and compassionate manner. Determine to five him the glory and praise.

5 mins:NEED... Decide what your greatest single need is for the day. Ask the lord for clear insight into your own life. Trust him for great things.

I am only on day 1 and already am enjoying it.
Dick Purnell has several other books for 31-day Experiments. I think I will do all of them.

I think it is important for all of us to get closer to God and learn more about him. There are new things everyday I am learning about him.
This is book is offered on Amazon, but I am sure any christian store would have it.
Hope you decide to take on the challenge. You will not be sorry!

Start your engines.....

Start your engines is what Ryan and Kendric heard at the start of NASCAR race. They were both so excited to watch all the cars in action. The were cheering for #29 Kevin Harvick.
I was so greatful they had this opportunity to spend time with each other and have fun watching something they both enjoy(besides football.)
Meanwhile, The girls and I had our own date going grocery shopping and out to lunch. Not as exciting, but I got to spend time with just my girls.

Giving back.

On Saturday, I had the opportunity to give back to the volunteers who work in the nursery and with awana's and upward sports. These women are committed every week and some more to take care of our children while we enjoy service and other events.
We provided the ladies with the a tea breakfast. We got to decorate our own tables with a theme.
The ladies enjoyed a great guest speaker and they were served tea, coffee, orange juice and some wonderful goodies to eat.
We appreciate everything thing they do to help our children learn about jesus more and how they have impacted their lives. It was a great feeling to give back.

Here we are wearing our aprons proudly after a wonderful time giving back. Georgia, the guest speaker is the one without the apron.

The lovley ladies enjoying some great treats. This was not even half of the ladies. There are so many more, and we appreciate them so much!

Boy Vs. Girl

I decided to just pick a post and publish it. It is crazy when I read all my posts, to think so much has happened and how big the kids are. I plan on doing a similar post like this, but a lot  of these still stand true. I decided to keep the pictures because they are so small!

My boy loves his mommy/then
Now/ still loves his mommy, but really loves his daddy.

The boy has the I really do not want to pretend I love my sister look.

Girl has the sassy, diva, drama ways

Girls have the I know how to pose way.

The goofiness side too

My boy and girls can be equal in imagination

My byhas the charm

My boy is a rockstar

The automactic nuture she has with babies.

My boy has addiction to football

My girls have the style.

I just love the difference and the similarities they love and I love them to peices no matter what.

What are the differences and similarities with you kids?

You Are...

I heard this song on Klove and I though it was the perfert comfort song to mend our broken hearts.

You are the healing in my heart
When all that I can see are broken memories

You are the light that’s in the dark
                                                                 You are the song,

You are the song I’m singing.

                                                              You are the air,

You are the air I breath in.

                                                             You are the hope,
You are the hope I'm needing.

And when my circumstance leaves me with empty hands.

You are the provider of my needs.

When all my dirtiness has left me helpless.

You are the rain that washes me.

                                                           If I had no voice,

                                                                 If I had no tongue,

I would dance for you like the rising sun.

And when that day comes and I see your face.

I will shout your endless glorious praise.

My heart is heavy for those affected by the explosions in Boston. As I got the news update on my phone,my heart just sank as I knew several people running in the Boston Marathon. I wept while watching the footage and just the damage it has done.

I pray for those who trained and worked so hard to cross the finish line and feeling such success and completion, only to have that feeling traded with sorrow and tears and cries and pain.

No matter how much our hearts are shattered, God will always be there for us mending our broken hearts, providing us comfort.

As I was thinking and praying for those in Boston, I also was praying for those who caused it. They have not found God yet and they need to. I pray for them to find Jesus and for him to forgive their sins and the pain they have caused people. I pray they give everything to Jesus and lean on him for everything.
As I reading the bible yesterday, I found some comforting bible verses that remind me that God will always be there in good and in tragic moments, that I may think he is not there.

Deuteronomy 31:8
The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.

John 14:27
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

2 Corinthians 1:3-4
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.

You are by Colton Dixon is a great song and I think it is the perfect comfort for our hearts.

We had a great weekend. It was still chilly,so we did not spend awhole lot of time outside, but enough time to enjoy it.
We went to Milan Missouri to visit Ryan's Granny who is having Kidney failure. We only stayed a couple of hours in the tiny hospital room, but well worth it. The kids did great with Granny asking the same question several times.
I hope she has several more months with us, but if God decides to call her home,I will cherish the time we had with her even more.
I am so proud to be their mommy. I had to sit between the 2 girls because they were playing instead of eating. Oh how I love them though! We stopped at applebee's for a quick bite to eat before heading home.
I had to add this picture in. It was from my phone so no the best quality, but these 2 even look alike from the back. Ears? Shhhhh.... do not tell Ryan I said that!

First time we had hamburgers on the grill. I love the springtime because this begins. They were so yummy.

Hope you all had a great weekend.
