A good time to read

I was reading a blog I follow http://lifeofemilyschmitz.blogspot.com/2011/10/wow.html and she had posted this and it is just what I needed to read. It is so true. Sometimes you forget you are protected no matter what. Sometimes it is easy to forget that God is always there for you no matter what!

Ryan and I are struggling through something's right now and we know God will provide and present to us the place we need to be and the place where Ryan needs to work. In the midst of holiday hustle,
And the stress of life ,sometimes we forget that God is with us and protects us and will never leave us.

Rejection is God's Protection

Right now you’re probably thinking, “Wait a minute, that doesn’t sound right. How can rejection be a form of protection?” But I’m not talking about rejecting by God. The Lord will never reject you – He will always love and accept you! The rejection I’m talking about is the rejection you sometimes face in your own life. When you feel like the world is rejecting you, whether at work, in your personal life or through the loss of something important to you, that may be God’s way of protecting you.

No matter where you are, you should accept it as the place God wants you to be and trust in God’s perfect timing. Thank God that He has seen in His wisdom to answer some of your prayers in unexpected ways and to answer others in the negative, because sometimes what we thought was the best for us wasn’t the best at all.

We should thank the Lord for all of the doors that He has opened and thank Him even more for the doors that He has closed in our lives. We should learn to trust that He knows what is best for us and is in control of our destinies. We may not understand everything that is happening and we can’t know what is in store for us in the future, but if we trust in Him, we can move forward knowing that He has our best interests at heart. After all, He knows the future and understands that there may be something far greater just around the next corner for us.

When we lose a job, go through a divorce, don’t get that promotion we wanted or face any other form or rejection or disappointment, we must remember to fight our discouragement and put our faith in God. The temporary rejection is God’s protection of our future. He is protecting us from some future hurt or sorrow by putting us on the proper path in the here and now. Yes, it can be a painful and harsh path to walk, but if we walk it in faith and allow God to comfort and keep us, we will get through the rejection and we will come out stronger on the other side, ready to accept the greater gifts He has waiting for us in the future!

Relax and learn to trust God. He is on your side. Ask God for His will and not your own. Being in God’s will is the safest place you can ever be. One of the most important aspect of faith is trusting that God will know what is right for you, even when you don’t understand His reasons. When it seems like your prayers aren’t being answered, it may be that God is protecting you from danger or sorrow that you can’t see, the timing isn’t right or that God has something far better planned for you that you haven’t even thought about. Give yourself over to Him completely and realize that any rejection you suffer from is only temporary here on earth, and that God’s plan is all-encompassing and will always prevail.

Peppermint bark

One of my favorite things to do around Christmas is bake yummy treats and then pass them out to neighbors and friends.

I chose this peppermint bark to make this year. Who can pass this yummyness up?

The kids get so excited to make treats and the see the smiles on our neighbors faces when they receive such yummy goodness .

I also have some more yummy treats that I want to make . Check out my yummy board on pinterest for more sweet treats.

I am blank....

I had done this awhile ago and honestly the answers are still pretty much the same.

I am weird because....

I cannot sleep with socks on
I need the sheets to be cold
and the pillow to be cold

I love to vaccum
I get excited when I see the mail truck,
even if there is not "good mail"
I need the beds  to be made everyday to
continue my day.

I am a bad friend because

I may not always remember birthdays
I am bad at returning phone calls or keeping in touch
with distance friends
I do not make a effort to get together

I am a good friend because

I would stop what I was doing to help the
I would watch their kids in a heartbeat, eventhough I watch kids
everyday for my job
I would bring them dinner at anytime

I will listen
I will give

I am sad because...
My family lives far away
I get impatient with my children
I feel money makes me happy sometimes
I have to work fulltime
some dreams did not come true

I am happy because

I have a wonderful family
I have a wonderful husband
I have a house
I have wonderful friends
I have amazing  children who teach me to grow everyday.

These boots make me squeal with Joy! I have patiently waiting to find just the perfect snow boots and after the snow yesterday, I was more motivated to find them. These cuties popped up in Facebook and I grabbed them up. They only had 2 sizes left and one was mine.
Snagged them up and they were on super sale.

Crayon initial

Since I did a post on teacher gifts , I thought I would share what I did a few agos. Thinking about making it again.

This was a old post so the arrangment is not like they are on.
This year I decided I was going to make the my daughters preschool teachers a gift. I think it means more when there is thought put into it. I saw Crayon Letters on Pinterest and decided that is what I decided to make.

Supplies:
  * A big box of new crayons(or old)
  * A picture frame. I used a 8x10 one.
   * Glue. I just used Elmers Glue
   *White or colored cardstock
    *pencil and knife

I First printed out a Letter M Printout to place the crayons on for practice and then one for the frame.
I used a letter M with rounded edges, might be better to use one with square edges.
I started arranging them and deciding where I need to cut the crayon.

then took a pencil and marked where I needed to cut the crayon at.

I then added glue. It takes a few mins to dry so if you need to arrange some crayons you can.

Then I began placing the crayons and figuring out what length to cut them and which way I wanted them to go. I had my daughter help me, so not sure it is exactly how I wanted it,but it is a 4 year old oringinal!
Here is the finished one. Not sure it is my favorite, but like I said I wanted my 4 year old to be involved.
If you were a preschool teacher, would enjoy this?

Teacher gifts

Since this is our last week before Christmas break, I thought I better get moving on getting teacher gifts. I have 4 teachers to buy for and that can really add up.

As a teacher myself I always enjoyed getting gift cards and that is so simple and easy.
I always think the way they are presented makes it even better to give it.
Last year I gave a gift card in a mason jar and turned it into a snow globe .
This year I want to do something different.

I love this idea a lot. I know I enjoyed getting school supplies too. Now only to find a box like this in 4 days. Ha!

I like these just plain and it is so easy to do.

I have some other great ideas pinned on my board.

What  kinds of gifts do you give teachers or like to recieve as a teacher?

Happenings

Happy Monday.. Hope you all had a great weekend. We had one of those weekends that we only had one thing going one. That is a rare occasion in our house .
I could feel myself just relax because we did not have places to go at all different times.

Yesterday was so warm out for December so we took advantage and spent the afternoon outside playing basketball, tag. I just wanted my kids to run off the energy they all of a sudden accumulated.

My heart melts when I see Kendric enjoying sometime with Kaelis. It does not happen very much, but when it doesn't just hugs my heart.

I wanted to document more of 12-13-14 , but this is what I got.

That is it folks, not very many happenings.

What did you this weekend? Did you document 12-13-14?

Ribbon lights

I have been wanting lights on my railing, but without the garland. I love garland. I hate the mess it comes with.
This took me about an hour from start to finish.

Supplies
White lights with a white wire.
Christmas Ribbon, about 4/5 rolls of different sizes.
 Scissors

I cut about 1/2 inch pieces and cut them at an angle to keep from fraying.
I just tied the ribbon around the wire in no pattern and done! Told ya it was easy and it was cheap. You might even already have the supplies laying around, which would even make them cheaper... Free!

I spy a cat ready to tackle the lights.

There you have it!

Putzhouses

I am not sure about you , but I just recently introduced to these very cute houses. I may have  always admired the houses, but really did not know the name.
This is in my list of  DIY's. I wold live to keep them out all winter, maybe on top of my cabinets.
I ask myself, do I think they will turn out as good as the pictures? Probably not, but I want to try.
I love the church.
How cute is this? I can just imagine , making a whole little town of these.
I have some more cute ones on my Putzhouse board on Pinterest.

Has anybody made these?

Date night

When Ryan and I got married we would go out to dinner, go to a movie and not worry about the time we went, when to be back. We just enjoyed the time together.

Fast forward to when we had Kendric. Boy, we had no idea that date nights were going to slow way down or not at all.
As demanding as being parents is, we forget about each other in the midst of taking care of somebody else so important.
The more kids we had and the more demanding life got, we knew that date nights would have to be a must.
Having no family in town makes it difficult and a bite in the budget, so we have to plan ahead when
Going on a date.
Now a days with 3 children that keep us so busy , we make sure once a month we go on date. We pick 2 dates that we are available and hopefully our sitter is able one of those dates. We also decide what we are going to and where so we know how much money to set aside and so we are not wasting time trying to decide where to go.
This month was Spent Christmas shopping, but we were together and had a chance to talk like adults, eye to eye ,handholding and praising God he put us together.

How often are your date nights?

Christmas movies

One of our favorite activities to do as a family is watch Christmas movies , drink hot chocolate all snuggled in the couch.
I thought I would share some of our favorites .

I will start with Christmas vacation. I could watch this movie over and over again. Our tradition is to watch it Thanksgiving day and then 1000x after that.

We love all the home alones, but the first one is such a classic. It saddens McCauley Caulkin is deceased.

What are some of your favorites ?

Ramon noodle stir fry.

This is a recipe that I cook up really quick and inexpensive. Those are my kind of recipes . Everybody loves it so it is a win. Even the 4 year old . Score !

1 pound beef/chicken
1tablespoon vegetable oil
1 package( I use 6) oriental/chicken flavor noodle soup mix
I package stir fry vegetables
1/4  cup stir fry sauce

  •        DIRECTIONS:
  • Remove fat from beef. Cut beef into thin strips. In 12-inch skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat. Cook beef in oil 3 to 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until brown. Remove beef from skillet; keep warm.
  • In same skillet, heat water to boiling. Break up noodles from soup mix into water; stir until slightly softened. Stir in vegetables.
  • Heat to boiling. Boil 5 to 7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until vegetables are crisp-tender. Stir in contents of seasoning packet from soup mix, stir-fry sauce and beef. Cook

Empty

Sometimes being a mom can be so overwhelming. Sometimes I feel like my cup is always empty and never seems to fill back up.
Showers are a moment of vacation until I hear that call for mommy knocking on the door, but  just sometimes I get  a rare quiet moment, but then I stop and listen because I know I hear somebody yelling, or is it a figure of my imagination?

I know I am not the only one right ?
My children bring so much joy to my life and I love how little excites them.
The way they yell when daddy walks in the door, the snuggles they just want.
I find myself not enjoying them and I feel so sad, but I am so exhausted and do not want to keep moving.

I sometimes use the iPad or tv a little longer than I should, just to have a little bit of calm.
One day though it will be gone. I remember finding out I was pregnant for the very first time 9 years ago and now my last one is 4.
In the moments of thinking I  am done and pure exhaustion, and wishing they were older, I have to focus on the now and know one day I will miss it. It will be gone and I will have so many moments of calmness that I will want all that Chaos back.
This is when I  realize  the thing I need most is the Word and the lord. He is the only one that can help me. In the mist of cleaning up messes, being a referee , a homework natzi I realize how disconnected I  really am from the bible.
I need to rely on him and read his words more.
I decided I need to take responsibility of my overwhelmeness and pray and get peaceful with God and everything else will fall into place and slowly my cup will get filled
What do you do to keep your cup filled?
How do you handle burnout?
What keeps you going?

All is calm and bright

All is calm and all is bright.
I love sitting with only the lights  of the Christmas tree.

All snuggled on the couch watching Christmas movies.
The kids have smiles on their faces and twinkle in their eyes.

Being together and enjoying the Joy of rejoicing what Christmas is really about.
 Celebrating The birth of Jesus.

 That is Christmas to me.
 All is Calm and bright.

Plaid

I never thought I would be into plaid, but there are so many ways you can wear plaid .
Of course I am going to get on Pinterest and see all the ways plaid is worn.
I love looking at the different ways to put together and then rush to my closet to see what I can find.

Check out my Plaid board on Pinterest for more Plaid wearing ways.

This looks like my closet. You cannot go wrong with 10 different plaid shirts right?
