Fall festival

Every year our town has the liberty Fall festival. Carnival rides, vendor booths and yummy overpriced not heathy food.
The kids love going and we always have a good time.
This is Kendric's friend that plays football with him. He looked thrilled to have his picture taken.

The kids went on the cobra which spins and goes really fast more than once and I thought like vomiting just looking at it.

Happy Birthdays.

Happy Monday!
September is such a big month for us for birthdays. Kendric's is September 4th. Mine is the 14 th and my youngest Kaelis was yesterday the 21st.
We are crazy busy with birthdays this Month.
We celebrated Kendric's birthday Friday night with a sleepover. We had 7 9 year old boys in the house. Let me tell ya, that is enough testeroine for one night. The boys had a blast though.

I was ready for them to go to sleep, they were still bare chested and wide awake at midnight.

This little girl turned 4 yesterday. Why does 4 sound so much older than 3?
She is our fiesty, hard headed girly girl.
I love her spunk and sassyness.
She says the funniest things. Cracks us up everyday .

Where does time go?
Stop growing up!

Apples and chalk and fun

To all my peeps, I will soon have a seperate page that is not connected to my blog for these activites.
We have been talking about Apples a lot lately and I have loved how much the kids have enjoyed it.
We made an apple orchard on Wed and used a red and green Pom Pom ball and a clothes pin to create our apples. I have one girl who is very detailed and will take her time, then I have my daughter who is fast and just made a big strokes while using her paint.
I love seeing the different ways each child  creates.

A little trick I use is muffin tins for paint.
It keeps the paint in one place and each child can have their own section or muffin
Tin. It also helps when multiple colors are being used.

Here are the girls playing the find the worm game. I let each girl sort the cards and hide the worm and they each did it differently.

In Friday we made wet chalk pictures.
We discussed how different the chalk looks when it's wet and then how does the picture look when the chalk is dry.

Here is my daughter helping out the little ones.

Apples Apples and more Apples.

When September comes around, I always start thinking if of Fall and apples and apple picking.  I love tasting different apples and exploring apples with my kiddos. There are are so many things that can evolve in a discussion about apples.
Today we made apple finger puppets. As soon as it dries I will punch a few holes so they can stick there finger in for the worm. and worked on a #3 apple math worksheet.
I also extended it and used plastic apples to sort from smallest to largest and count up each color to see if any group had more apples than others.

What activities do you with apples.

Being thankful

This is one of my favorite sayings that I have around the house.

It is such a great reminder that there are many things to be thankful for. I seem to take advantage of things and always want more. I find myself comparing my life to others and material things. I need to unbury all the blessings that I have and rejoice. I need to thank God everyday for these things instead of having Satan take control.

I find regret and resentment certain days instead if being thankful for everything I do have.

My goal is to think of one thing a day I  thankful for and thank God for that.

What is one thing you are thankful for.

The number 2 and time capsules

Today for preschool we learned about the number 2 and that 2 equals a pair.  There are so many ways you can teach about numbers.
Funshine express provides enrichment worksheets that help teach concepts in fun ways. Today we matched pairs.

For creative arts we made Art capsules. We colored the paper first and then we practiced fine motor and self concept.
The kids enjoyed creating their own capsule to hold their papers in. One child even used it as a telescope.

Carefully rolling the paper and thinking about how to keep it together.

Happy with their finished products!

Hello there!

As many of you may or May not know, I run an in home preschool. I have been doing it for almost 10 years and love it. One of  the difficult things about having the same  kids year after year is finding curriculum that will be different from the years past. Let me tell ya, it can get difficult.
A few years ago I discovered Funshine Express curriculum.  The curriculum comes right to your door all packaged by date and all ready to go. This has been a life savor. They provide a teacher packet that comes with a guide with questions, what activites to do on what day, games, worksheets that goes with the themes.  They also provide a calender, numbers, letter and shapes of the month and a weather chart.  I get giddy when I see that brown box on my porch.

I enjoy getting it and if you ever struggle with curriculum for daycare or homeschooling . Funshine has it  for all ages. I currently am using fireflies for ages 3-5.

Today we learned about the letter A and the sign for A in sign language. We did a letter A worksheet and practiced out A's.
The kids enjoyed playing a game where they roll the dice that has numbers 1-3 on it and they have to move that many spaces to get to the school. We discussed who got to the school first and last. This game also taught them how to take turns and wait patiently for their turn.

We also made a collage using all different kinds of things to introduce Art and how by using many different things is called a collage art.

I will post  in a separate section of all the things we do using Funshine express so if you ever needed some ideas, they will be there.

Have a super Monday.

Happy 9th Birthday

This boy is 9 today.
I remember driving home from work on Friday excited for the 3 day weekend to relax and just do nothing. This guy had other plans. He arrived on Sunday and made me feel sick all of Saturday. So we spent the weekend in the hospital room enjoying our new "Labor Day" weekend present.
He is such a boy, but a tender hearted, Jesus loving boy.
