Happy Friday. 
I am not sure about you, but it's been a long week and I am ready for a couple days of no work and sleeping in a little . 
 I have just a few pictures to recap our week. I have to remember to get my shutter button on my phone warmed up and get to snapping some pics. 
 We do not have much planned this weekend and looking forward to the super bowl commercials and half time show. The game... Nah.

What are your plans this weekend? 

We have been busy painting away and getting rid of that awful contractor paint that makes the walls look so dirty! Do you know what I mean? 
 This was during the process. I LOVE the color.

Kaelis got her hair trimmed and my hairdresser curled her hair and I called her Farrah all night. She loved it though.

Adoption shower

Adoption is such a wonderful moment and always a reason to celebrate.
So friends of ours that are in our small group have been waiting prayerfully for a little boy, well big boy in Sierra lone Africa. 
 After 3 years and a lot of ups and downs Moses finally got to come home. 

Moses is a very special boy. He is almost 8 and is not potty trained. He cannot walk or speak, but my goodness he gives  the best hugs. He is finally getting the help he needs and hopefully will start progressing.

Having a shower was the best way to celebrate this boy and get mom and dad what they need to for Moses. 
I was in charge of decorating. 
I wanted to something simple, but yet catchy. 
I knew globes and maps were the way to go. 

This was the food table. Simple , but catchy. Yes? 

I used the globes I had for center peices .

It was a really fun shower and I  am glad I was part of this special day.

Banana Apple smoothie.

I decided to look way back through my posts. It is crazy to think I have been blogging for 7 years. 
 I came  across this post from 2009 and it reminded that to this day we still make this smoothie, but have added a few more ingredients. 
 I wanted to share the recipe again and add a few more recipes.

2 frozen bananas
2 peeled apples
1/4 cup of milk( I now use almond milk)
Strawberries (1/2 a bag of frozen)
Blueberries( 1/2 a bag of frozen)
Handful of spinach 
Handful of kale
Chia seeds 
2 scoops protein powder (peanut butter, almond butter I use for the kids)
1/4 cup of Greek vanilla yogurt 
1/2 cup of water( if it still seems thick add more water)

I add it all to the blender and blend. The kids love it and ask for it every morning still. 
I decided to still post the old pictures, just because it is unreal how young they were.

Toddlers and writing

As As a preschool teacher I have had no problem thinking of creative ways to teach writing and name recognition or I did. I would always just whip something up and get to it, however It seems like the older I am getting and now teaching  3 and under, my brain is not working like vvI want it to. 
 Why am I struggling thinking of ideas?

   There is always that saying that kids always do things and act so much better for others and their caregivers. Yes!!! 
Maybe that is why I cannot get my 4 year old to write her name for me.... At all. Thank goodness for her attending preschool, but it is driving the teacher in me down the crazy road.

Of course I went swimming in the Pinterest  pool and found some great ideas. 

Hopefully these ideas will make the "learning" fun!

It is well within my soul

As I have been reading the bible more and getting a better relationship with God, I came across the saying It is well within my soul , in  my devotional book and I actually have it framed, but I did not really know what it meant or where it came from. 
I began to research the story of it. If you have not read the story then here it is 

“It Is Well With My Soul” was written by a Church Layman, named Horatio G. Spafford in 1828. As a young man he established a very successful legal practice in Chicago. Even thou he enjoyed great financial success, he held fast to his Christian Faith as well as the close relationship he had with D.L. Moody and other evangelical leaders of that time.

A few months before the Chicago Fire of 1871, Spafford had invested heavily in real estate on the shore of Lake Michigan. All of his holdings were wiped out by the disaster which came on the heels of him losing his only son to Scarlet Fever. Desiring rest for his grieving wife and four daughters, Spafford planned a European trip for his family in 1873. However, due to some last minute business developments, he was unable to travel. Instead he sent his wife and children ahead, promising to follow in a few days.

In early November the ship his family was traveling on was struck by the Lochearn, an English vessel, and sank in twelve minutes. Several days later the survivors landed in Wales. Mrs. Spafford cabled her husband, “Saved Alone.”

Shortly afterward Spafford left by ship to join his devastated wife. It is speculated that on the sea near the area where it was thought his four daughters had drowned, Spafford penned this text with words so significantly describing his own personal grief- “When sorrows like sea billows roll…”

After all the trials sprafford  went through , he still trusted God and knew God was with him.
 Here is the hymn :

“It Is Well With My Soul”

“When peace like a river attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll-
Whatever my lot, Thou hast taught me to say,
It is well, it is well with my soul. 

Tho Satan should buffet, tho trails should come,
Let this blest assurance control,
That Christ hath regarded my helpless estate,
And hath shed his own blood for my soul. 
My sin- O the bliss of this glorious tho’t-
My sin not in part, but the whole,
Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more;
Praise the Lord, Praise the Lord, O my soul!

And, Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight,
The clouds be rolled back as a scroll-
The trump shall re-sound and the Lord shall descend,
‘Even-so”- It is well with my soul.

It is well….With my soul…It is well, it is well with my soul.”

The peace Jesus gives brings a sense of assurance that no matter what happens you know "it is well with my soul." He says to us, "Peace I leave with you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and... afraid." (John 14:27)

 Can you imagine going through what Mr. Sprafford went and literally losing all your kids within just a few weeks, but yet still have the strength to have such powerful words.

I can only hope that I would have the strength and the peace to carry on and know It is well within my soul.

I pray that each of you will remember no matter what trials you are going through or what lies ahead,  there is nothing to big for God.

Happy Friday! 
 I decided to join in on Instafriday. It's been awhile . 
I have not been very good with pictures lately. I need to remember to get snappin.

We are huge Ohio state fans. Me being from Ohio is a given, but what are the chances that I meet a handsome man from Missouri that Loves Ohio state. 
It was destiny I tell ya!
We had a very happy house Sat night and Sun.

 I was sick over the weekend and what good excuse to just hang out in bed and read magazines.

Playing headbanz with a 4 year old results in just telling me who I am.

I am in charge of decorating an adoption shower for our sweet friends. Found a little idea that I am going to do with these .
(I will post about the shower  next week)
These sweet friends waited 2 years to get sweet Moses home. A dream come true.

Collage wall

I love collage walls, but they scare me. 
The bare wall is so clean and simple and pounding it with holes, makes my heart beat faster. 

This is the arrangement I am going for I think.
have been wanting to a collage wall above my couch for awhile now, but finding those just right peices has been a challenge. 
Different shapes, sizes, colors. Finding the perfect picture to put on a canvas . 
Makes my head spin. 

I love how this collage is arranged vertically. 
I  have a lot of arrangements and tips on my Pinterest board.  Hopefully I can pick one soon. There are a lot of great ideas.

Since I have most of the things to hang, now it's time to start "reminding" my hubby that the lonely wall needs some company.

Paper glass

I enjoy when I can find another way to use something after it breaks and I do not have I throw it away.

I have a this lantern and a peice of glass was broken.  I knew I really wanted to keep it.

I then had a moment. I decided I would put book pages behind the glass and just take the broken glass out.

The next step is easy. I tore a page out of the book, placed it inside the lantern whet the glass is. 
The way I measured was by 2 notches that the glass fit in and poked 2 holes .
 I used the holes as my guideline I where to cut.
(Sorry, should have taken a picture of that )

The last step was to glue the page onto the frame. 

And that is it!

Cleaning schedule

Having a clean house is somewhat of a challenge for me and at times I feel overwhelmed. 
The thought of cleaning the whole house for it to get dishelved and dirty again is daunting to me.
 I work from home full time, but with little flexabilty  to maintain the house, it was becoming hard to keep up.
When I discovered clean mama  I felt a sense of relief that maybe I could keep my house clean.
This schedule has been a life savor.
Let me explain why. 

Each day she has a task to work on.  I do not feel overwhelmed because my focus is only on that one task. 
I may have to touch up a bathroom or vacuum more than once, but other than that it's a breeze.

Here is the schedule.

Monday  bathrooms 
Tuesday  dusting 
Wednesday floors
Thursday    Vacuum 
Friday catch all. 
Saturday sheets and towels

I do a load of laundry a day and always wipe down counters, declutter.
Since doing things once a week, my house feels cleaner and it only takes me about 10-15 minutes to clean. 
 Clean mama has so many ideas for organizing, paying bills, menu, budget and many more. She is a goddess I tell ya!

So if you are looking for ways to organize, clean, budget... Visit you will not regret it. I promise

Less is more

IThis year I am wanting to simplify my life. Get rid of the clutter that is blocking anything else from coming into my life.
 I had another post for today, but it was on  My heart to share this. I struggle with this a lot and on Sunday our pastor did a sermon in less is more. God knew I needed to hear this.

Yet true godliness with contentment is itself great wealth. (1 Timothy 6:6 NLT)

I tend to compare my life to others a lot. Envy, wanting more. I have struggled with this for all my life and I cannot get passed it.  I am always asking God why I feel this way.  
I am learning though to pray and thank God for all the things I do have. Material items are just things. They can be taken away.
Our pastor gave us 5 guidelines to help us have contentment. 

1.understand that one day all the stuff will be gone.( 1 Timothy 6:7)

2. Learn to appreciate what I have.
(Phillipans 4:12)

3. Pay attention to what you are willing to do to get more money. 
(1st Timothy 6:9-10)

4. Put your help in God.
(1st. Timothy 6:17)

5. Freely share what you have with others. 
(1st Timothy 6:18-19)

The main point I got from this is 
Choose Christ over everything else.

I have so many things to be thankful and have so much. Why do I need more? 

He also gave us a challenge. 

3x a day find something we are thankful for.  Write them down. At the end of the week review them and thank God for those things.

I am up for this challenge.

I decided to give away something that is meaningful to  me and not replace it or buy something  in place of it . I have not picked that item yet, but I know I have something.

Sometimes I feel like my house is put together when I look at it and on the surface, but when and  if a guest would ever open a closet door or cabinet I would be mortified. Now, that might be to the extreme, but  I would be trying to make excuses for why it looks that way, but in reality there is no excuse.
 On my last post I made a I Will list of things I will do this year.
 One of those is get organized .
 This is the first one I am focusing on. I have a some really cool ideas to get me motivated on my

Christmas recap

I hope everybody had a super Christmas.
We had another successful one. 
Smiles were cheek to cheek, thank you Santa clause was said.
Coffee was drank. A lot of it.
 I love the early morning excitement and rushing down the steps to see what Santa clause brought.
 I try to soak up every minute of the day because with a blink of an eye it is over.

The joy of just receiving princess dolls is happiness.
